About PUQ

The Pathfinder’s Ultimate Question

Welcome to the PUQ Goal Setting System

A guided, nine-question system that helps you set one goal you will not abandon: it surfaces every goal your life is already pointing you towards, tests each one against your ethics, your values, your staying power and your real motives, and hands you a costed plan for the one that survives.

Every other framework teaches you how to set a goal. PUQ answers the harder question first: which goal is actually yours.

9 guided questions 7 aspects of your life 6 categories of value 11 motivators tested 1 ultimate goal

Hear From the Creator

How the Pathfinder’s Ultimate Question closes the gap between setting a goal and finding the one worth your life.

Falade Olaitan on why the right goal matters more than the right plan.

Most people do not fail at their goal. They succeed at the wrong one.

The nine questions exist to stop that happening to you, before the years are spent.

Find the goal that is yours

The PUQ Map: Your 9-Step Journey

Most frameworks stop at a SMART goal. The PUQ goes underneath it, to make sure the goal you pursue was ever meant for you.

1

What are my Potential Ultimate Goals?

Explore the 7 fundamental aspects of your life (Strength, Weakness, Discipline, Personality, Love, Influence and Circumstance) to uncover hidden opportunities.

2

Are my Potential Ultimate Goals Ethical?

Pass your goals through the Legal and Moral filters to ensure your path to success is built on a foundation of integrity and peace of mind.

3

What values will each goal bring to my life?

Assess the Emotional, Growth, Moral, Material, Security and Social value each opportunity will add to your life.

4

Which goals give me a meaningful sense of satisfaction?

Score your goals against your personal Must-Have and Nice-to-Have values to find the strongest alignment.

5

How sustainable is each goal?

Score every goal on the 3-Legged Stool: value to your audience, lifespan and your own long-term dependability, each out of ten. A goal that cannot reach fifteen of thirty does not go through to the next question.

6

What challenges will attaining this goal bring?

Name the practical and emotional costs of succeeding, then judge what each goal is asking of you. Anything you have already called a high cost is set aside here, because that is a price you would be paying every day for years.

7

What is my motivation for attaining the goal?

Uncover your true why by identifying which of the 11 core motivators are driving your ambition.

8

Is my motivation really worth it?

Your motivators are sorted into internal and external. A goal carried only by external motives, impressing people or proving someone wrong, is dropped here. The PUQ then names your Ultimate Goal from whatever has survived all three filters. You do not pick it from a list, and you cannot talk yourself into it.

9

What specific tools will I need?

Build your Bridge Plan. Identify the exact expertise, resources, time, sacrifices and financial requirements needed to cross from where you are to where you want to be.
